✅ What You'll Do
- As Legal Counsel at Capchase, you will play a crucial role in shaping and protecting the legal framework of all our business segments. This role will report to the General Counsel.
- Provide legal guidance and counsel on a broad range of legal matters, including contract negotiations, litigation, and risk management
- Ideate with the Product, Ops, and Compliance team to build new products
- Review, draft, and negotiate a wide variety of contracts, including vendor agreements and customer contracts
- Lead and manage matters with external legal service providers
- Assist in the creation of new capital market facilities
- Oversee and address any legal disputes, working with external counsel when necessary
- Develop and execute strategies to resolve legal issues efficiently
- Monitor and provide guidance on changes in laws and regulations like anti-money laundering, KYC obligations, emerging lending regulations, etc., that may affect the company's operations
🚀 What we're looking for
- J.D. degree from an A.B.A. accredited law school; admitted to practice in NY
- 5-10 years of relevant legal experience with significant in-house experience at a financial services or tech company in a regulated industry
- Good business judgment combined with strong verbal and written communication skills
- Highly organized, experienced with managing numerous matters simultaneously, and able to adapt to shifting priorities
- Experience working on cross-jurisdictional matters and with a global team
- Significant experience negotiating commercial and partnership agreements
- Based in NY or EST time zone
